Overview
Coyne
has grown to become one of the largest privately owned uniform rental
concerns in the United States and is thought by industry experts to be
the fifth largest overall in the U.S. Coyne operates 31 locations
serving customers in 24 states in the eastern half of the U.S. as well
as nationally through a national service network.
Recent News
Coyne
recently sold specific assets, primarily in the northeast to focus
resources on expanding in high-growth markets, particularly in the
south and southeast. Coyne is also in the midst of a major management
and operation reorganization.
The
company employs approximately 1,000 employees and is party to 31
collective bargaining agreements covering approximately 700 of those
employees. Coyne enjoys excellent relations with its union and
non-union employees.
Areas of Business
Coyne
serves customers in diversified industries throughout the eastern
United States. The company rents, leases, sells, and launders textile
products including workplace uniforms, career apparel, protective
garments, shop towels, reusable absorbent socks and pads, floor mats,
treated dust mops and wet mops. The company also provides linens, mats,
towels, and restroom hygiene products including restroom towels,
sanitizers, deodorizers, and soaps.
Coyne
has experienced substantial growth over many years by focusing on
value-added services for companies generating heavy soil (printing
inks, oils, and solvents). Coyne is one of the country's leading
suppliers of rental wiping towels and has invested millions of dollars
in cleaning technology that is environmentally friendly and offers
environmental liability protection for its customers.
Specialty Business
Coyne
has experienced rapid growth in its protective apparel division which
provides fire retardant and chemical protective garments to the
aluminum and steel industries, electric utility and petrochemical
companies, and other high-risk industries.
Reusable Absorbent Systems (RAS),
a unit of Coyne that provides environmentally sound products to absorb
oils, solvents, inks, and other volatile liquids, has also seen
dramatic growth. New EPA regulations, limited landfill space and
serious potential environmental liability for companies that dispose of
their volatile-fluid-laden items have increased demand for Coyne's
reusable absorbent products. Coyne cleans these products and returns
them to the customer. The extracted volatile liquids are captured and
cleanly burned as a supplemental fuel in cement kilns.
Environmental
Coyne is an industry leader in reuse and recycle
capabilities and has invested millions of dollars to create proprietary
equipment and procedures. Coyne recovers and recycles approximately one
million gallons annually of hazardous residuals from its
state-of-the-art processing facilities into beneficial reuse as a
secondary fuel. Coyne has kept more nearly 11,000,000 gallons of hazardous waste from entering the environment through its energy reuse program since the program's inception.
Coyne
actively participates in the regulatory process at the Federal, State,
and Local levels and was recognized as one of the companies achieving
100% participation in meeting the objectives of LaundryESP. LaundryESP
is an Environmental Stewardship Program established in conjunction with
USEPA and the laundry industry to further reduce water and energy use
and pollutant discharges to the environment.
Community
Coyne
Textile Services has contributed millions of dollars to hundreds of
worthy causes in communities across the country through its Coyne
Foundation. In Syracuse alone, hundreds of Syracuse organizations have
received millions of dollars over the company's 76-year history.
